Hecta band3/11/2023 ![]() ![]() Recently, substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity antennas have been widely investigated for their advantages of low profile, unidirectional pattern and high radiation performance . Many excellent designs such as dual-band dipole antenna , tri-band monopole antenna , quad-band microstrip antenna and penta-band slot antenna have been reported. Compact multi-band antennas are in great demand, which can simultaneously communicate with multiple systems and reduce the quantity of required antennas . With the advancement of wireless communication, multi-standard systems have emerged in recent decades, which lead to high requirements for antenna designs. The proposed antenna system offers advantages of compact size, hexa-band operation, high isolation, and unidirectional radiation, which has potential applications in multi-standard wireless systems. Moreover, the measured isolation between these integrated antennas is better than 22 dB within the frequency of interest. The measured gain and efficiency at the above frequencies are higher than 5 dBi and 72%, respectively. The resonating frequencies excited by port 2 are 2.57 GHz ( f 4), 3.11 GHz ( f 5), and 3.61 GHz ( f 6). The measured frequencies excited by port 1 are 2.31 GHz ( f 1), 2.91 GHz ( f 2), and 3.35 GHz ( f 3). A fabricated sample with the overall size of 0.63 λ 0 × 0.63 λ 0 has been measured. They are excited by two coaxial ports to form two integrated antennas. Six half-mode resonances with different sizes can occur in a single cavity. Two narrow slots are etched in the upper sub-cavity and other two slots are cut in the lower sub-cavity to achieve multi-band operation. A square SIW cavity is divided by a wide slot into two half sub-cavities.
